"With the IQ backs we have a beautiful user interface and for Capture One we have Capture Pilot. It was an obvious thing that we should connect these two things directly.

We wanted a wireless solution because we saw that our existing customers really like the iPad. We have Capture Pilot today that works with Capture One. So we could make a wireless solution that would liberate the digital back from cables for tethering. You can access all the images in the back directly from your wireless device.

For instance, landscape photographers, they don't want to carry that much equipment with them. If we could make a connection between the iPad or maybe an iPhone with the IQ back, then we could make it easier for those of the photographers that are out in the field.

The most important feature of the UI on the iPad is speed. It has to be responsive, intuitive, and easy to verify that the pictures are exactly as you want them.

We use the processing power in the back to break the file into little bits of pieces and send the areas of the image and the zoom level that you are actually looking at onto the smart device. If you just move your image slightly then you just request the missing pieces of the image so it can fit in like a puzzle.

This whole caching mechanism is what made it possible for us to make a really smooth user interface. With this wireless solution we really make a huge step towards helping at least some of our photographers in their workflow.

We also use our wireless solution to remote control your camera and digital back from the smart device. You can see aperture and shutter time and take pictures directly from the smart device. You can catch your image and you can instantly see if the light is OK.
