Sherwin Williams Acrylic and Alkyd Primers
By Vicki Waterbury and Lee Sapata https://youtu.be/4s0uLIrfi2M Both great primers both with their own applications. Acrylics can be used as a general purpose primer on most raw surfaces to ensure and improve adhesion, bond longevity and finish coat leveling and presentation. Acrylic primers are better suited for quick general coating to prep an area for a color change. Alkyd primers are better suited to address areas that have deep stains that need to be covered or blocked. Alkyd based primers are also better suited for areas that need to be sealed prior to coating (e.g. areas that are saturated with grease, nicotine, soot, glue, food residue, heavy crayon markings, pencil or Sharpe markings). In this short video Lee and Vicki discuss the differences between the two types of primers from Sherwin Williams.
