#shorts - To prepare for dynamic overhead functional training with a macebell to strengthen the shoulders, it is important to start with basic overhead halo movements, and gradually add difficulty, weight, and complexity only as you gain motor control and coordination, and strength to handle it. Swinging a steel mace bell is a rather complex and dynamic activity, and involves changing direction, core stability and strength, shoulder stabilization and full body tensegrity during motion. Even though you aren't moving heavy weights, the halo motion combined with a center of mass that is extremely far away from the body makes this a sneaky and challenging activity. Start with basic macebell halo tracing without using fast and dynamic motions at first, just to get the feel for this uncommon training tool and get used to this difficult overhead position to increase overhead shoulder mobility and flexibility while maintaining control throughout your range of motion. If you've done that, it's time to perform the same movement but with a more dynamic swing. It is incredibly important to start slow and be patient with these movements. Eventually you'll be able to harness your myofascial slings in a dynamic way through fun functional training exercises, but first we need to break it down. This is very similar to a steel macebell 360 movement.
