Ruth Gordon was an American actress, writer, and playwright known for her distinctive voice, quirky humor, and dynamic stage presence. Born on October 30, 1896, in Quincy, Massachusetts, Gordon began her career in the theater in the 1910s and 1920s, performing in several Broadway productions. She later transitioned to film and appeared in dozens of movies, including "Rosemary's Baby," for which she won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. In addition to her acting career, Gordon was also a prolific writer, penning several plays and screenplays, including the screenplay for the classic film "Adam's Rib."
