Gianella Chinchilla tells her story of starting Climate Action LAb and discusses methods to weaponize social media for change. Gia Chinchilla is a sustainability and clean technology consultant at Gladstein, Neandross, & Associates (GNA), a United Nations Youth Climate Activist, and Founder of Climate Action LAb. At GNA, Gia leverages her background in environmental policy, advocacy, and project management to provide clients with comprehensive services that commit to reducing their carbon impact. Outside of work as a consultant, she leads the Climate Action LAb team, whose aim is to inform and empower young Angelenos to take climate action through interactive storytelling. Previously, Gia interned for the Mayor Eric Garcetti’s Office of Sustainability where she conducted policy research and strategizing efforts in preparation for the release of the L.A. Green New Deal. An avid educator, Gia spoke at the United Nation’s historical Climate Action Summit about using social media as a tool for climate awareness. She graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles with B.A. in Political Science and Environmental Studies / Geography in 2019.
