While addressing the nationwide protests over the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini that have gripped Iran since September, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said they were “planned by Iran’s enemies” and that some of those protesting in the streets are “foreign agents” or working with them.

Khamenei made similar accusations when he first publicly spoke about the protests at the start of the month. At least 185 people have died in the protests according to rights groups.
