|
In this video you will learn that Cupra showed a small electric car with a range of 273 miles.
The Spanish Cupra brand, which is part of the Volkswagen Group concern, demonstrated a prototype of the UrbanRebel electric hatchback. The debut of the serial version is planned for 2025. The UrbanRebel is based on the MEB Small front-wheel drive platform. This is a scaled-down version of Volkswagen's MEB electrical architecture. It is used purely for compact models - the length of the novelty is only 13.2 pounds. The power plant consists of a single electric motor with a capacity of 226 hp. Acceleration to 62 mph takes only 6.9 seconds. The declared range is 273 miles. Among the interesting features of the Cupra UrbanRebel, you can name complex plastic body panels, doors without conventional handles and frameless windows. The company assures that they tried to make the car "rebellious" and unlike other electric cars. The interior consists of recycled polymers and bio-based materials. Some solutions are made in parametric design. The company claims that this is the largest project currently under development. In the medium term, the brand would like to sell 500,000 cars per year (compared to 80,000 in 2021), release three new models by 2025 (in addition to the UrbanRebel, Cupra announced two more electrified models: the Terramar SUV (it will receive both conventional gasoline power units , as well as a PHEV hybrid variant with a range of approximately 62 miles) and Tavascan), as well as update the current model range (Leon, Formentor and Born/e-Born). The hatchback will be produced at the plant in Martorella, near Barcelona. For this, an investment project worth 10 billion euros was concluded, which includes, in particular, the construction of a gigafactory for the production of batteries in Spain worth 3 billion euros.
