In the process of drifting into sleep, and the first 30 - 60 minutes of sleep, the subconscious mind is very open to the influence of words. Why not use our sleep process as an opportunity to empower ourselves? Why are positive affirmations especially potent during sleep? Firstly, the ego-mind with its incessant chatter and skeptical blockades is at its weakest, allowing affirmations to seep in without the usual resistance (the same happens while meditating) Secondly, the brain is not preoccupied with all the sensory stimuli that dominate waking hours. The brain goes from beta brainwaves to alpha (meditation), then theta (meditation and sleep), and then delta (deep sleep).

Metaphysically, the act of repeating positive affirmations is comparable to performing a sacred chant in a temple. The temple, in this case, is the inner sanctum of your consciousness, and the chant is the affirmations.

Your health is your greatest wealth; invest in it while awake and as you sleep.
