SHOWING RESPECT IN THE PHILIPPINES (BecomingFilipino Mindanao) |
|
Yes, I place my hand on my heart for the Philippines National Anthem. I have been doing this for years, as a sign of respect, for everything the country has brought into my life.
In this video, you will see me in Dipolog City, Zamboanga Del Norte, Mindanao. I drove here to be a guest speaker for the 9th Council of Tourism and Hospitality Educators Of Zamboanga Peninsula Congress. There were about 450 students from all over this area of Mindanao who took part. I gave a talk at the convention center in Dipolog, and then spent time with the students at a "Barrio Fiesta Party". There are a lot of ways people show respect in the Philippines. One way I do so, is with my hand on my heart during the National Anthem. Oh, and I love learning languages here... In this case, I picked up a few Chavacano words!!
