4 Potential Dallas Mavericks Trade Targets: Evan Fournier, DeMar DeRozan, Marcus Morris & JJ Redick |
|
The Dallas Mavericks have been one of the biggest surprises of the NBA season by shooting their way into the Western Conference Playoff picture. The Mavs might be looking to add more to their team before the NBA trade deadline. The Dallas Morning News recently put out an article with 10 players Dallas could target including Evan Fournier of the Orlando Magic. Evan Fournier is a sharpshooter that can create pretty well for his teammates also. His international connection could help form chemistry faster than most with Luka Doncic, and he could play either in the starting lineup or off the bench.
Another trade target that could make sense for the Mavs is DeMar DeRozan of the San Antonio Spurs. DeRozan doesn’t bring much to the floor when it comes to his 3-point shooting, but he would immediately become another playmaker that can get to the rim easily. DeMar DeRozan has been really good for the San Antonio Spurs, who are still trying to make a playoff push, so it might take a lot for the Mavs to pry him from the Spurs. DeRozan would be an interesting target since he can’t space the floor and he’s a veteran, but he would still add a lot to this team. Want more Mavs videos from Chat Sports? He has been one of the best 3-point shooters this season for the New York Knicks and is nearly scoring 20 points per game. Would the Knicks give Marcus Morris up to the Mavs and how much would it take? The other Morris twin, Markieff Morris of the Detroit Pistons, could be a more viable trade target for Dallas. He would sure up the front court rotation and he is a near 40% shooter from three. Markieff Morris also would cost a lot less for the Mavericks since he is only averaging about 10 points per game as opposed to Marcus Morris’ 19. The final trade target mentioned in today’s show is JJ Redick of the New Orleans Pelicans. Redick is an incredible veteran presence on any playoff team, but he would make a lot of sense on the Mavs in particular. He is putting up big numbers, but the Pelicans have no been winning games this season. Dallas would likely have to give up a decent amount of talent to pry JJ Redick away from the New Orleans Pelicans, but his 3-point shooting and veteran presence would likely be worth it for a young team looking to make a push in the Western Conference this year.
