At Gold Coast Surgical Hospital, we are proud that our inclusion of Australia’s most advanced medical technology has ensured that a large number of the Gold Coast’s leading surgeons have taken up operating time at our premesis. Gold Coast Surgical Hospital is one of the only hospitals on the Gold Coast offering robotic assisted joint replacement surgery and, as of July 2016, the specialised Stryker MAKO robot is now able to perform total hip replacement surgery.

Up until now, the Australian experience of robotic orthopaedic surgery has been limited to partial knee replacements, with the first being completed in April 2015. Since then, more than 280 of these procedures have been performed. Now, only three months after the first robotically assisted total hip replacement surgery was performed in Australia, Gold Coast Surgical Hospital is now one of the first in Australia to offer the surgery.
