Pan Gongkai is a famous Chinese painter and art theorist.
Since 1979, he has been engaging in the creation of Chinese paintings and the instruction of art history and theory. He advocates “new freehand”, giving full play to the unique abstraction of ink painting and maintaining the inheritance of the humanistic spirit in the traditional ink painting. Apart from a research visit to Berkeley College, he was awarded the Honorary Doctoral Degree of San Francisco Art Institute. Moreover, he has held large personal exhibitions in New York, San Francisco, Hong Kong, and the headquarters of UNESCO in Paris.
