1. Use shortcuts. There's looots of them on the notion website, here are the ones I use the most. I love shortcuts, big time savers!
a. / to add any item. Here you can either scroll to see everything or type to find the block if you know what you're looking for. b. if you use / and start typing a color you can change the background of your block c. cmd+b OR text in between ** and ** for bold and cmd+i OR text between * and * for italic d. - or * + space to add a list items e. use tab to indent content and shift+tab to remove indentation f. Squared brackets for a todo item g. use hashtags #, ##, ### for headings or convert text to headings by selecting and clicking cmd+1, 2 or three h. Use @ to quickly add a date, reminder, person or page 2. Quickly add link: copy URL → select text → paste 3. Duplicate the block with either cmd+D or select+option/alt 4. Create columns by dragging a block to the left or right 5. Use page settings: 1. Full width, small text 2. can also change font 6. Share notion pages without worrying it will be changed: as a template + toggle off for editing, toggle on for duplicate 7. Use cmd+p to quickly search for anything. The search function is super well done, it shows you the recent pages, which could be very handy 8. I find it very handy to use the table of contents for the long documents and put it on the side. Table of contents is created based on all the headings you use in the document 9. Embed content 1. google calendar 2. google docs 3. google map 4. links: bookmarks and pages 5. tweets and more 10. Use comments to create notes for yourself (e.g. if you need to double check something) 11. Hide content under the toggle list - handy when you want to focus on one block, when the rest is irrelevant. E.g. I have the list of books I read in the previous years, but I only see the current year and the rest is collapsed. - use a "more than" sign to create a toggle - Something I learned recently: cmd+option+T to open and close them all at once 12. Use favorites for quick access to pages you use the most 13. Deeplinking to any section in notion by selecting a block → copy link. That's a quick way to link to a specific part of the page. 14. Quickly check and uncheck the todo items 15. Switching to dark mode. It's a bit of a hidden feature - Settings & members → Appearance → Select (I personally find it hard to use the dark mode, but I know a loooot of people prefer it not only in the dark but also during the day) - Or you can click cmd+shift+L (ctrl+shift+L on PC) to toggle between the two 16. Notion is only in English, if you watch this video, chances are you speak it already, but if someone has to use it but doesn't speak english, you can open the page in the browser, use google translate to translate the UI elements. The translation may not perfect, but it works 17. If you're a mac user, it might be handy to keep two (or more) notion instances open on two different desktops. That obviously applies to any apps, not just notion. Use three finger swipe to switch between the desktops. -------------------------------- 🕑 Timecodes 00:00 – Introduction 00:28 - 1.
