How to Make a Sand Volcano - Outdoor Kid Adventures |
![]() |
In this outdoor kid adventure, Isaac shows us how to make a volcano with baking soda and vinegar, plus sand and some other household ingredients. To make your own volcano experiment, you need:
- a bucket/container - vinegar - baking soda - dish soap (optional: for the bubbles!) - red food colouring (optional: to make the lava red!) This safe, fun science project can be done indoors or outside. We used sand to make our volcano look cool, but you can use snow, clay, paper mache, playdough, mud, or pretty much anything! Creating small, safe explosions like this one are super fun, and one of our favourite family activities. This video was filmed in Invermere, BC, Canada, by the playground with the best view in the world. The Rocky Mountains are visible in the background.
