🔴 Top 30 countries in vaccinations against COVID-19 (updated May 17th 2021)

video thumbnail
Number of vaccinated people against COVID-19, as reported by each state. Data collected by OurWorldinData.org.

Methodological note:

1. General
The animated chart features:
• In a first section, the 30 countries with the highest numbers of people who received at least 1 vaccine dose, from the country with the highest such number to the country with the 30th highest such number.
• In a second section, the split between people who are fully vaccinated (2 doses for most vaccine, or 1 dose when only one dose is necessary, e.g. Janssen vaccine) (in green) and people who received only one dose (in blue) for the countries ranked in the first section, presented in % of the total population.
• In a third section, the number of people who received at least 1 vaccine dose, from the country with the 31st highest such number to the country reporting the lowest, non-zero, such number.

Nota: If your country is not featured in this animation, your country has either
• failed to report on the number of PEOPLE vaccinated (i.e. some countries reports only the number of INJECTIONS, e.g. China),
• reported on a number of people vaccinated that is inconsistent;
• not yet started a vaccination campaign;
In any case, it does NOT mean that your country will never vaccinate against COVID-19; nor does it mean that your country is “forgotten” or “excluded” (see point #7 below);

2. Data sources
All data are from OurWorldinData (ourworldindata.org);

3. Updates
For each version of this animation, StatsAnimated relies on the latest version of OurWorldinData dataset on COVID-19, which is updated several times a day.

4. Recalculations
Values for the following countries differ from those indicated by OurWorldinData.org, and have been recalculated by StatsAnimated:
• Japan (addition of Diamond Princess figures),
• Denmark (addition of Faeroe Islands and Greenland figures),
• France (addition of French Polynesia),
• the United Kingdom (addition of Jersey, Guernsey, Gibraltar, Isle of Man, Bermuda, Anguilla, Montserrat, Turks and Caïcos, Cayman Islands, Falkland Islands),
• the Netherlands (addition of Aruba, Curaçao, Sint-Marteen (Dutch part), Bonaire, Sint Eustatius and Saba)

5. Data reliability and accuracy
For some countries, concerns exist as to the accuracy of the figures reported (or as to the absence of data reported). Data from some countries appear to be rounded and updated discretionarily. Considering concerns related to those countries' data on COVID-19 confirmed cases, deaths and tests, caution is advised when considering data on vaccines from those countries:
• China
• Russia
• Venezuela
Other country data may not correctly reflect the epidemic situation due to insufficient testing capacities.

6. Methodological changes
The first version of this animation was released on January 18th 2021.

Between January 18th and January 26th
Data presented were from the "Total vaccinations" field, i.e. the number of injections.

Between January 27th and February 26th
Data presented are from the "People vaccinated" field, i.e. people who received at least one dose.

Since February 26th
Data presented are from the "People vaccinated" field, i.e. people who received at least one dose. The second section presents the split between people who received two doses ("fully vaccinated", in green) and only one dose (in blue), in percentage of the total population.
