A prominent figure in the Orthodox Jewish community was arrested and charged in connection to an attack on a reporter.
City Council candidate Heshy Tischler has been charged with inciting to riot and unlawful imprisonment. He was taken into custody Sunday night. Police officers arrested Tishcler at his residence in Brooklyn. On Friday he had initially posted to Twitter that he would turn himself in today, but authorities did not wait. As reported last week, hundreds of members of the Orthodox Jewish community headed to the streets to protest against COVID-19 restrictions. During that demonstration we're told Jewish reporter, Jacob Kornbluh was attacked. Kornbluh has since spoken out and thanked the NYPD and community members for saving him after he recalls being hit in the head and kicked by a crowd while apparently, they yelled "Nazi" and "Hitler" at him. News 12 is told several of Tischler's supporters gathered in front of the 66 Precinct Sunday night demanding for his release. He is expected to appear before a judge at some point today. |
