In this video I react to Shelby Church's video titled "How Much Money A Blog With 1,000,000 Views Makes (its more than you think)". As a blogger myself, I was interested in seeing how my blog, which makes about $1,200 per month makes compared to larger blogs. Surprisingly, by blog makes a very similar CPM (cost per 1,000 views) to the larger bloggers. For the month of September 2020, my blog averaged a CPM of $14.45. Comparing this to the bloggers featured, they reported a CPM of $15. This CPM for blogs is WAY higher than that of YouTube which typically pays closer to a $5 CPM. The CPM is likely higher for blog because you can have many more ads within a blog post than the 2-4 ads that are placed during a YouTube video. The bloggers also mention that they get a TON of their traffic from Pinterest which is one area that my blog does not. I need to do a better job of publicizing my blog on Pinterest to increase my ad revenue. One thing that is not discussed is how much the bloggers make from affiliate links, products, or merchandise. Just like YouTubers, bloggers monetize their content in very similar ways. One thing that they also discuss is sponsored posts. Both bloggers mention that sponsored posts can vary significantly during the year but usually stay around $5,000 for a blog that gets about 800,000 views a month.
