The Lifecycle of Social Work Advocacy |
|
Advocacy for legislation to improve social conditions and promote social justice is an ethical standard set for the social work profession by the Code of Ethics. From agenda inception to research, policy, and position writing; to grassroots campaign development, direct advocacy at the Capitol, and more, our members power and lead our advocacy work at NASW-NYS. All social workers - students, working professionals, and retired professionals have the opportunity to be an advocate.
Not sure where to start in the world of advocacy? Join us on September 13th to learn about our Advocacy & Government Relations (AGR) and Political Action for Candidate Election (PACE) committees, hear from our committee Chairs and ask any questions you may have about our work. Additionally, representatives from the NYS Legislative Education and Advocacy Day (LEAD) will join us to discuss their advocacy work and how you can get involved. LEAD is an opportunity for social work students across NYS to advocate in support of issues critical to our profession. You don't want to miss this virtual session to hear about how you can get involved in advocacy work at NASW-NYS and beyond! |
