There are 1,200 Climate Reality Leaders from all over the Philippines—each with a unique account of how they learned about the climate crisis and how they are contributing now to the global climate change movement.

To bring their stories of hope, fear, and survival closer to the Filipino people, we are launching the #KwentongKlima Series, a monthly video feature of Pinoy Climate Reality Leaders.

For January, we featured Gio Almoite, a forestry student and a coordinator for the Project Coordinator for the Sustainable Energy and Enterprise Development for Communities.

As a Climate Reality Leader, Gio is advocating for environmental protection and conservation to address climate change and ensure a more sustainable and equitable future for the Filipino people.

We cannot arrest the climate crisis without protecting and restoring our ecosystems. Just the same, we cannot address biodiversity loss and degradation without tackling the prevailing climate emergency. Moving forward, we need more climate and environmental advocates like Gio who will push for measures that will address biodiversity loss and climate change in an integrated manner.
