Many men have difficulty establishing social connections and opening up about their personal issues and worries. Sometimes the only social interaction they are engaged in is their own workplace. When retirement comes, some men can feel isolated and lonely, without a sense of identity and purpose. This can cause various mental and physical health issues which can develop further.

The Men's Shed provides a safe place for men to meet up, chat and pursue practical interests and skills together. The idea is simply to have fun, make friends and share knowledge over a cup of tea and, sometimes, a lovely piece of cake.
