NUMBER ONE Way to Tell If You've done TOO MUCH with your arthritis | Dr. Alyssa Kuhn |

The BEST way to prevent arthritis flare ups is to first prevent doing too much. If we do too much of the wrong activity, our joint can become very irritated. Once it is in this irritated state, it takes much longer to find pain relief. So how can you prevent an arthritis flare up? By knowing how much activity your joint can take.
One of the ways you can tell if you have done too much is if you notice joint pain or joint swelling after an activity. This is secondary to an increase in inflammation in the joint itself and is especially common in knees, ankles, and hands. If we can prevent this overactivity, we can prevent these longer spells of pain. We have to listen to our bodies and understand what our joints can take. Using a significant increase in pain or swelling as our signs of overactivity, we can save ourselves from "paying for it later". The biggest problem with overdoing it, is blaming the increase in pain on said activity then never doing said activity again. Learn how to stop overdoing it.
