You should endeavour to upgrade your capital as soon as possible and not just for the awesome walls that protect your troops. A level 2 city has double the potential resource generation and allows for your unit production buildings to be upgraded too, increasing the rate you impart experience. More importantly, you have an extra research slot in the library for spells, something we’ll be using a lot more of on account of being a mage lord. The final reason to upgrade fast is because the other factions start with a level 2 city, affording them the potential of increased resource generation right away.

As our objective is to eliminate all other factions, we need to think on who to deal with fire. Fire are on our side now and most of the opposing factions are far more powerful than us with two notable exceptions: air and water. Air are quite a distance away from us and surrounded by other factions which are very powerful but water is just to our south and has a strength rating relative to our own. The main issue when it comes to reaching them is the very element that they’re a master of but once we get our first full army, we can begin constructing a unit type we didn’t utilise at all in the Bradigan run because we had no need to. This time, however, we have such a need.
