Ty Dunne reports former Cowboys execs believe there’s a difference between how Jerry and Stephen want to spend money: ““Jerry is more willing to open up the checkbook and pay,” says this longtime personnel man. “Stephen’s always the one that’s trying to hone him in and prevent him from bankrupting the salary cap. And sometimes, it’s the right thing to do and sometimes it isn’t. There were a couple offseasons where we could have improved ourselves in free agency by being active and we chose not to when we tried to do it through the draft.”

Another exec echoed that statement: “This is my opinion: I think it’s more Stephen than Jerry. If you can convince Jerry that this guy you’re going to sign is going to be a difference-maker and help you get it over the top, he’ll get the deal done. He’ll figure out a way to get the deal done. But Stephen’s always sort of pulling that back.”

Mike McCarthy enters a contract year and reportedly isn’t happy with how things are going. In fact, the exec claims he’s little bit “fed up.” The report: “He’s doing it the best he can. Some of the people I’ve talked to have said that he’s getting fed up with it a little bit.”

Mike McCarthy’s tenure in Dallas has had highlights, but a lack of playoff success:
- 2023: 12-5 (Wild Card Loss)

Cowboys rumors on Dak Prescott won’t be stopping anytime soon. Just like they did the first time, the Cowboys have mishandled the Dak Prescott contract situation. Here’s what the former Cowboys exec said: “These guys just aren’t laying around. All these other positions, there are a bunch of guys out there. You can go get someone else who can fill that spot. Maybe not as well, but at least a rough estimation of how the guy is. But there’s not that many starting quarterbacks of Dak Prescott’s caliber out there. There just isn’t.”

“It’s hard. I feel bad for Dak. I think Dak’s a really good quarterback who is capable of taking a team to the Super Bowl. He’s got to overcome a lot of things.”
