Growing for good | Sam Holt | TEDxCardiff |
|
Sam talks passionately about the positive benefits of growing your own food and how it has helped him through the most difficult periods of his life.
A long way from where Sam started—dreaming of a career in medicine when he came to Cardiff in 2001 enrolling in Cardiff University as a medical student—Sam is now best classed as a social inspiration delivering outdoor education with a passion for growing food, community, and chickens. Sam leads a busy life running his own business EggSeeds alongside working for the Federation of City Farms and Community Gardens with the dreams of reconnecting the community with food, enhancing the education system to utilise outdoor education to raise core standards, and to inspire the community one day at a time to have the confidence to make the difference in their lives and for those around them. Having been recognised over the last few years for his contributions to environmental volunteering, mental health awareness, and inspiration to adult learners and community development, Sam has picked up and shared in an array of awards. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at http://ted.com/tedx |
