VRS Design Crystal Mixx for iPhone 7 Plus: Is the Spigen Ultra Hybrid S A Better Choice? |
![]() |
An ultra slim clear case with a magnetic kickstand for the iPhone 7 Plus, the VRS Design Crystal Mixx does a great job in showing off your new iPhone. However, the amount of camera protection it provides is very slight and I have concerns that the metal kickstand could possibly scratch the back of your iPhone over time. If you have your heart set on a very thin clear case for your iPhone 7 Plus, you might want to consider the Crystal Mixx’s near twin, the Spigen Ultra Hybrid S. The two cases have basically the same feature set, and look almost exactly alike, but the Ultra Hybrid S provides more protection for your protruding camera lens and its method of kickstand attachment, while possibly less secure over time, does not present any possible scratch hazard to your iPhone. In addition, unlike the VRS Design Crystal Mixx, the Spigen Ultra Hybrid S has military drop standard certification.
The VRS Design Crystal Mixx has an MSRP of $24.99 and is available directly from VRS Design. Typically, VRS Design offers its cases at a significant discount from Amazon, but the Crystal Mixx did not appear to be available from Amazon at the time of this review. https://vrsdesign.com/products/iphone-7-plus-case-crystal-mixx?variant=25831805766 The Spigen Ultra Hybrid S has an MSRP of $29.99, and is available at that price directly from Spigen, although you can currently snag this case for $13.99 off Amazon. http://www.spigen.com/products/iphone-7-plus-case-ultra-hybrid-s?variant=24313364801 http://amzn.to/2d1kUgs (amazon affilate link) Many thanks to both VRS Design and Spigen for sending me these case samples to review. If you have any questions about either case, please feel free to put them in the comments below. Thanks for watching, and have a great day! |
