Two Louisiana teachers accused of having a threesome with a 16-year-old male student are finally charged a year after their arrest:

Two former Louisiana teachers accused of having sex with a 16-year-old student have been formally charged in the case more than a year after their arrest.

The Jefferson Parish District Attorney’s Office on Monday brought two counts of carnal knowledge of a juvenile against Shelley Dufresne, 33, and one count of failure to report the commission of certain felonies against 25-year-old Rachel Respess.

The two women who had both taught English at Destrehan High School were taken into custody in September 2014 after the teenage victim allegedly had a threesome with them in Respess' apartment in Kenner.

As part of the plea deal, Dufresne was ordered to surrender her teaching license, undergo mental health treatment and stay away from the victim and his family.

Initially, both Respess and Dufresne, a married mother-of-three, were charged with one count each of carnal knowledge of a juvenile.

Charging documents released in the case this week indicated that Dufresne allegedly had two sexual encounters with the 16-year-old boy on August 22 and September 19 of last year, reported The Advocate.

According to prosecutors, Dufresne had an ongoing affair with the 16-year-old whom she taught at the high school in Destrehan, a sleepy commuter town west of New Orleans.

The threesome involving Dufresne, Respess and the teen allegedly occurred at Respess' Kenner apartment on September 12, after Dufresne picked up the boy from a Friday Night Lights high school football game.

A former 'teacher of the year' accused of having sex with a student when he was 12 denied the allegations today and told the court the 230 pages of racy texts they exchanged were part of 'sexual therapy' she was using to help him.

Married mother Ethel Anderson, 30, from Riverside, Florida, is accused of having a three-month sexual relationship with the boy when she was supposed to be tutoring him.

The alleged victim, now 14, who has not been named, testified today that the alleged abuse started four or five weeks into their tutoring sessions when she would kiss him and perform oral sex on him.

He told the court: 'I felt like she was a girlfriend, I loved her and she said that I was her boyfriend and she loved me. She would rub on my legs, kiss on my ears, neck and stuff like that...We would tongue kiss.'

When confronted about the 230 pages of racy text messages she said they were just sexual therapy that she was using on the 'troubled student' to motivate him.

She told the court: 'At the time, with him struggling with school and having behavioral issues and anger issues, acting out at home and not being able to connect with his family, the way that he and his parents felt, that was my purpose. To gain his attention and, yes, I did it in an inappropriate way.

A former teacher accused of having sex with three underage students had trysts with one of them while awaiting trial, a court heard.

Brianne Altice, described by one of the students as a ‘teacher with benefits’, will stand trial for new charges of rape, unlawful sexual activity and dealing harmful material to a minor in addition to the dozen other felonies she already faces.

Prosecutors say the 35-year-old high school teacher had sex with the teenager, now 18, after she was arrested in October 2013 on sexual abuse and rape charges connected with two other victims, aged 16 and 17.

She taught English at a school in Salt Lake City, Utah, before she was fired in 2014.
