Russian President Vladimir Putin and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan pledged to fix bilateral relations which had been damaged by Ankara's downing of a Russian warplane on Tuesday.

Vladimir Putin and Recep Tayyip Erdogan attended a three-hour meeting in the Constantine Palace in St. Petersburg. The two heads of state told the media that the bilateral relations which had been damaged last November will soon be restored and upgraded to a new level.

"We have agreed a series of plans on a governmental level, including mid-term plans for a Russia-Turkey cooperation in economy, trade, technology and culture from 2016 to 2019. I hope the plans will be ratified after deliberations," said Putin.

Putin also voiced his support for Erdogan about the failed coup attempt within the framework of Turkey's constitution, while Erdogan said Turkey supports all of Russia’s claims within eastern Ukraine and Crimea.

Reports say the restoration of Russian-Turkish ties will help alleviate tension between the Middle-Eastern nations and hopefully play a part in helping to eradicate active terrorist groups in the region. More on: http://www.cctvplus.com/news/20160810/8029296.shtml#!language=1
