Storm Ophelia, now a post-tropical cyclone, continues to weaken as it moves over the mid-Atlantic on Sunday.
The storm brought rain, damaging winds, and dangerous surges of water. It had near-hurricane-strength winds of 113 km/h and made landfall near Emerald Isle, North Carolina around 6:15 a.m. EDT on Saturday. On Friday, the governors of North Carolina, Virginia, and Maryland declared a state of emergency in anticipation of the storm.
