Alexander Ovechkin's Hat Trick vs. Penguins HD - 2/7/2010 |
|
On Super Bowl Sunday 2010, it was Ovechkin who stole the show that day to the tune of 18,277 standing fans who drove through the worst snow storm of the decade to watch Ovechkin wow Washington and the entire NHL once again with a Hat Trick Tying goal after a early 4 -1 defecit to Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins. Ovechkin would eventually ring the post in OT on a 4 on 3 power play, nearly notching his fourth goal of the afternoon, assisting Knubles 5-4 OT game-winning goal on the doorstep, sending Washington into a frenzy.
With each goal demonstrating Ovechkin's complete dominance of the offensive game, he shows how versatile he can truly be. With the first goal being a breakaway showing explosive speed, he fires a lazer between the wickets of Marc-Andre Fleury and shatters goal cam. The Second is a backhander of a bouncing puck showing hand eye coordination and how much power he can muster on such a difficult shot to get off, once again going five-hole on Marc-Andre Fleury. The Third and final goal of the afternoon for Ovechkin was a one-timer off the faceoff, before the puck fell to the ice after hitting the back of the net at least half of the crowd had risen to it's feet, and hats started to pour down. He would cap off a 4 point evening by nearly notching a 4th goal by hitting the post and assisting Knubles 5-4 OT game winning power-play goal on the doorstep for a truly memorable performance and was the number one star of what ESPN called the Game of the Year. |
